There is a narrative purpose to Curly's disability, and it is NOT punishment. The direct consequence of his initial inaction is to become completely unable to protect the crew, including himself. It's not about morality and how he deserves to suffer, but rather how his enabling of Jimmy condemns everyone on the ship and he is physically powerless to stop it.
I'm gonna assume you didn't mean any harm by implying disability is a deserved punishment for anyone. But I also urge you to stop and think about that statement and how it might reflect on disabled people as a whole.

relapse is not a moral failure. substance use and addiction are not a moral failure. mental illness is not a moral failure. disability is not a moral failure. you have a health condition. you are struggling. recovery is not mean to be perfect, and if you're not in recovery, surviving is good too. i'm glad you're here, and i hope life treats you better soon. please know this is not your fault. you do not need to feel guilty over your own health.

AU based off Nature except I kept thinking about it too hard. Dales not a good dad, but its such an easy problem for him to throw money at, and what do you do when a part is damaged? Well, you replace it.
Basically an AU where Dev gets to experience medical trauma and realizes much sooner how much his dad doesn't love him

This comic really lived or died based on if I could come up with enough stupid nicknames for Montreal O’Canada
This comic is Part 3 of a hostage "get along" shirt situation. This comic was in purgatory for a while because I decided to draw a bunch of teenagers in it and also light it, which are two things that I don't do a lot. Part 1 Part 2 This is Part 3

Let it be known that it’s perfectly possible to be pro-choice re:abortion AND against eugenics. Abortion shouldn’t be about getting the perfect child, it HAS to be about preserving the health of both the pregnant person and their child, and that includes choosing to abort simply because you don’t want to be pregnant. It doesn’t include aborting a perfectly viable child because they just happen to have a disability.

I do not want to hear your opinions on moral OCD if you don't have moral OCD. At all. "People are definitely just using it as an excuse to not know Important world events".
I used to watch the news every day and cry myself to sleep at night, at 12, because I was a horrible, unimaginably cruel person for not helping every stray animal, every house fire, every shooting, every flood. I was an unimaginably cruel person for not giving my last dollar I needed to eat to the man panhandling outside, I would eat my instant ramen crying because I was selfish for eating what could've been someone else's food.
Yes, being able to look at events without spiraling is important. But when it starts to happen, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible to stop, without professional support, which many people just don't fucking have! I didn't have a diagnosis until last month, despite this going on for most of my life! Someone filtering a tag on Tumblr and avoiding the news isn't a grand selfish act when it will only make you unable to do anything but spiral.
How are you supposed to help someone if all you can do is have a panic attack at the thought, because others also need the help, and there're probably better ways to help, and maybe you're not helping, maybe this will lead to something horrible... This, on and on and on, for days!

Love it when a modern "progressive" show makes all the evildoers physically disabled.
Larys has a Clubfoot, Aemond gets his eye cut out, and now Aegon is burnt and missing appendages.
Isn't it convenient that we can immediately tell a person is bad because their body looks different?
And of course, we don't explore any discrimination against these characters because they're horrible, and we shouldn't feel bad for horrible people.
People were mean to Larys because of his Clubfoot? But don't you know he has a gross foot fetish?
Aemond has impaired vision? But his eyepatch looks cool, and he is still a good fighter, so what is he even complaining about?
Aegon has been severely burnt? But he is a rapist and so let's make jokes about his dick burning off, lol.

if you 'grounded' an adult that would be considered 'false imprisonment' and also a crime

the existence of healthy fat people is not the reason fat people should be allowed to exist, and free of bigotry at that. it uses health as a measure of someone's rights, and health is morally neutral. it also very much sidelines fat people whose fatness DOES negatively impact their health. that's a thing that can happen, and it still doesn't mean they have an obligation to lose weight. we must accept and fight for all fat people, whether they're disabled or not.

Since it is disability pride month, this is your friendly reminder to be nice to people with mental illnesses! Particularly, moral OCD and psychosis!
-make sure to tag things with unreality properly
-don’t reblog things that look like bait. If it calls you a horrible person for not reblogging? It’s going to make someone with moral ocd feel like absolute shit. If you really must, make a tag for it that can be filtered out.
-don’t make jokes about being in someone’s walls. Or at least tag it as unreality
-the term “intrusive thoughts” is not one to be used lightly. Intrusive thoughts are unwanted and distressing most of the time.
-we are all trying to share the great big internet. These will be people with triggers you didn’t know about or haven’t considered. Please be nice.
